This past weekend, I rented a truck to move my home office from St. Catharines to my new location in Fenwick and today I spent one of my last few days working from old location enjoying the sun and warm weather outside. Sometimes a change of venue is good to get you refocused.

I will start working out of my new location full time the second week of June and enjoy the country setting for the rest of the summer. When not enjoying the country life, my free time will be spent finishing up renovations and combining two households into one as my girlfriend and I prepare to sell her home and move into Welland for our two youngest boys starting high school together at Notre Dame Highschool.

My house sale in St. Catharines officially closes on June 8 but my plan is to be out on the seventh and not worry about moving again for a few months at the very least.

As I was packingm I came across a stash of business cards and notes from the past 11 years working with the Construction News and Report Group and was able to reconnect with some of those clients and look forward to some feature profiles that will take shape as the year advances.

I have reflected about when I started the position, the work involved endless phone calls and setting up in-person meetings. Now most clients interact via email or text and the ones I call seem surprised to speak with a living person.

Over the next few months we will be launching a new project which I am excited about and the opportunity for something new and different to serve the construction industry of Ontario. I like new projects that pop up and sometimes come out of the blue that help to re-energize me and challenge me to work out of my comfort zone. I am hoping to share more specific details with you in July but August for sure.

What new projects are you starting to work on from buildings, industry events or product launches? Contact me with details and we can work on some coverage in an upcoming issue.
