City of Mississauga and Peel Regional staff are reviewing three SmartCentres sites to evaluate whether mixed-use development – including new housing – is appropriate. One site is located on Argentia Road and Winston Churchill Blvd., and the other two sites are on Burnhamthorpe Road West.
The review began after SmartCentres asked to remove all three sites from Mississauga employment areas. Peel Regional Council directed staff to study the request. If approved, the changes would allow any future redevelopment could include a broader mix of uses such as homes, office space and retail uses.
Two in-person information sessions are planned:
Site 1 SmartCentres Argentia Road – Sept. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hope Church, 7755 Tenth Line West.
Sites 2 and 3 Smart Centres Burnhamthorpe Road West – Sept. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at
The Great Hall – Mississauga Civic Centre, 300 City Centre Drive

An online survey is available until Oct. 4 to gather information and comments on:
- Benefits – Includes lower energy costs, improved comfort, power during outages, and renewable energy use
- Climate impacts – Including air quality, greenhouse gases, and cool temperature materials
- Ecology and natural systems – Includes tree health, green roofs, biodiversity, and bird-friendly designs
