ITS named as preferred bidder for Joseph Brant Hospital redevelopment project

Infrastructure Ontario and Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington announced that Integrated Team Solutions (ITS) has been selected as the preferred bidder to design, build and finance the hospital’s redevelopment and expansion project.

Integrated Team Solutions was selected through an open, fair and competitive procurement process overseen by a third party fairness advisor, according to a statement.

The project includes new seven-storey patient care tower; 172 new beds; new Emergency Department; nine new operating rooms; a post-anaesthetic care unit,; and new and expanded Cancer Clinic.

In addition, there will an expanded ambulatory care programs, renovated level 2B Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit, expanded Diagnostic Imaging Services, expanded medical, surgical and outpatient services, and a new main entrance.

“The project will provide the growing community of Burlington with improved access to a larger, more modern hospital with more single patient rooms, consistent with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s design guidelines, to meet the highest standards for infection prevention and control and quality patient of care,” according to a statement.

Infrastructure Ontario and Joseph Brant Hospital will now begin negotiating contract details with Integrated Team Solutions. Project costs will be announced publicly following financial close and construction is expected to begin shortly thereafter.

It is expected that the project will reach financial close in early 2015.
