The City of Mississauga is holding a public information session regarding construction of a new fire station. The meeting will be held at Meadowvale Theatre, 6315 Montevideo Rd. tonight (Feb. 23) from 6 to 8 p.m.
Designed by Hossack & Associates Architects, the project is located at Tenth Line and Aquitaine Avenue and will also include relocation of Union Park’s leash-free zone to allow for construction of the new building. Station 125 is a priority project because it will help serve a high growth area identified in the “Shaping Ninth Line” future growth plans.
Building Station 125 is also connected to a plan to build six new fire stations over the next 12 years to optimize emergency response times across the city – to meet the goal of first truck response in four minutes or less, 75% of the time.
Station 125 was designed with an environmentally responsible approach, achieves net zero energy, and meets corporate green building standards.
Designs and construction plans for Fire Station 125 including the relocation of the Union Park leash-free zone will be available for review at the public meeting which will be a drop in session without a formal presentation.
Staff from Mississauga Fire & Emergency Services, Parks, Forestry and Environment, and Facilities and Property Management teams will be present to discuss the plans and answer questions.
