ErinoakKids, the largest of Ontario’s 20 community-based children’s treatment centres, celebrated the start of construction of a new facility in Oakville at a ceremonial event on Feb. 19.

Construction of the new space, a first in more than 40 years for ErinoakKids, will help meet the increasing demand for services for children with disabilities and special needs, ErinoakKids said in a news release. “The new facility is part of a multi-site project supported by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services that will replace 11 outgrown facilities with three new buildings – one in Oakville, another in Mississauga and a third in Brampton. The sites will bring therapy, medical and support services under one roof for children with disabilities and special needs.”

Peel-Halton Partnership (PHP) has been selected to design, build and finance these new facilities. The PHP includes Stantec (lead architects), Bondfield Construction (developer and contractor), and Rocklynn Cpaital Inc. (financial advisors).

Infrastructure Ontario reports that the three-site project has an overall contract value of $163.33 million.
