I am in the midst of planning the second annual Niagara Construction Association (NCA) charity poker tournament and getting things organized for 2013 and hopefully belong with the charity of choice, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of St. Catharines Thorold and District.

Last year we ran the first tournament with 35 players and the overall feedback was great and the questions about when the next one would be held kept coming, a promising outlook for sure. Taking the positive feedback and a desire to see the event grow I have set a goal with community support is to reach 100 players which I should reach with the help of Laura Dominick, the BBBS fund development officer.

We are working together lining up donations of silent auction prizes, setting up a 50/50 draw and locating a great door prize for each person who buys a ticket. I have started discussion with the company who help run the tournament last and have started to a search of a main sponsor who can contribute $1,500. The main sponsor would be recognized on all posters, flyers and literature. They would also be able to set up a display table at the tournament and provide swag items on all tables. I have also offered to through in an advertising package valued at over $3,000 for the company that steps up. I am also looking for nine additional table sponsors for the amount of $200. It was 10 but I have already offered to be the first sponsor.

The poker tournament is growing beyond just a great networking event for companies in the construction industry. The big picture idea for 2013 and beyond is  community recognition for the NCA and the members and the companies who step up to support BBBS.

Tickets will be going on sales in the next few weeks for $75. This includes your seat at a table, enters you in a draw for a main door prize event as well as finger food snacks throughout the night. The night of the big event is Thursday November 7th, so mark it on your calendars. If you are interested in sponsorship, tickets or donating a prize email me chase@cnrgp.com or call 905-228-1151.
