As I write this, I am finding it hard to believe spring is supposed to be arriving later this month. With the recent cold spell I am sure many projects across the GTA, Hamilton, Simcoe County and Niagara have fallen behind a little. Nothing some warm weather can help fix!

With the warmer weather to arrive soon, it means there should be a pick up in construction activity from road work, landscape design and exterior work. For myself, the next month means the last few conferences and trades shows to attend before the break that always occurs between May and September when the focus on the construction industry is on building projects and infrastructure and not so much on developing relationships and continuing education and training.

With the break in the traditional trade show season coming, I am looking at some new networking opportunities locally to join a local co-working group in downtown St. Catharines for networking and give me back some of the feel of working in an office which I have not really experienced the past 10 years. I am a few days away from my tour and reconnecting with a friend I knew from college to check out the set up. My goal is to look for ways to promote the group and connect with members for potential business.

I was also just re-elected to a second term two year term as a director of the Niagara Construction Association. I will continue to chair the young leaders committee until the end of 2015 and hope to pass the baton to a new member. A search is currently on for some new blood for the committee and I hope a new relationship with the Hamilton Halton Construction Young Leaders group may help with the growth here in Niagara and some partnering on new annual networking events.
