Canada Lands Company will hold a community open house Oct. 23, to provide updates on site preparation activities in Phase 1 of the Arbo neighbourhood at Downsview.
The event will take place at the Downsview Hub, 70 Canuck Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Toronto City Councillor Pasternak and his staff are expected to attend from roughly 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The open house will outline work scheduled to begin in late November and continue through 2028 to prepare the site for home construction. Key activities include:
- Construction of Sugar Maple Way, a new east-west street south of the protected woodlot
- Removal of select trees, shrubs, and low-growing vegetation outside the woodlot
- Removal of the old road and utilities
- Installation of watermains and sewers
- Rehabilitation of the existing pedestrian bridge
- Park construction and woodlot restoration
Canada Lands will also provide updates on broader initiatives, including the Build Canada Homes program, the Federal Lands Initiative led by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), and planning for seniors’ housing.
The open house aims to give the community a chance to learn about upcoming construction, ask questions, and provide feedback as the redevelopment of the Arbo neighbourhood continues.
