BRAMPTON — The City of Brampton has launched a new interactive construction map and a public survey aimed at giving residents a stronger voice in the future of local parks and recreation.

The interactive Parks and Recreation Construction Map provides real-time updates on more than 80 projects underway across the city, ranging from new splash pads and playgrounds to major facility renovations.

Projects are organized into four categories: new park development, park revitalization, new recreation development and recreation revitalization. The tool allows users to search by neighbourhood or project type, offering details on milestones and construction timelines.

“As our city continues to grow, it is essential that we plan together, listen to what truly matters to residents and ensure every neighbourhood has access to safe, inclusive and high-quality parks and recreation opportunities,” Mayor Patrick Brown said in a news release.

The city has also opened a new survey that invites residents to share ideas on how Brampton’s parks could be improved in the years ahead. Open until Dec. 1, the survey allows participants to suggest features they’d like added or upgraded in neighbourhood parks. Respondents will be entered into a prize draw.

Regional Coun. Rowena Santos, chair of Brampton’s community services section, said the new tools are meant to enhance public engagement.

“The construction map provides transparency and real-time updates, while the city-wide survey creates a meaningful opportunity for residents to share their ideas and priorities,” she said.

Both initiatives support Brampton’s 15-year Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which was recently updated following a five-year review.

The plan outlines how the city will continue building and maintaining public spaces to meet the demands of its growing and diverse population.
