BRAMPTON. – The City of Brampton has selected Richmond Hill-based Frontier Group of Companies as the construction manager for the new Embleton Community Centre, a major infrastructure project with a capital budget estimated at $148 million.
City officials announced the selection on Tuesday, marking a key milestone for the structure at 200 Lionhead Golf Club Rd. in southwest Brampton.
Designed by Perkins&Will Architects, the approximately 175,000-sq. ft. facility is slated to become a central hub for the growing community near Mississauga Road and Queen Street West.
According to the city’s 2025 budget highlights, $148 million has been allocated for the project, which is part of Brampton’s broader “Recreation Revitalized” campaign. The city confirmed that design and approvals are currently underway, with major construction activities scheduled to begin in spring 2026.
“Embleton Community Centre is a major investment in the future of southwest Brampton,” Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown said in a statement.. “With the project advancing and key milestones achieved, we are moving closer to delivering a modern, inclusive facility.”
The project will be delivered under a construction management model. As construction manager, Frontier Group of Companies will provide oversight and coordination to ensure efficient scheduling for the complex build.
Once complete, the multi-seasonal facility will feature:
- An aquatics centre and fitness facilities;
- Community gathering spaces and multi-use rooms;
- A new Brampton Library branch; and
- Potential space for a future child care facility.
“Our team, together with the construction manager, is fully committed to delivering the Embleton Community Centre for this community,” said Regional Coun. Paul Vicente, chair of the city’s public works and engineering section. “Their co-ordinated work to plan, sequence and manage construction will ensure this facility is built to a high standard.”
The project comes as Brampton manages a busy construction pipeline. There are currently more than 80 parks and recreation projects underway across the city, including the Chris Gibson Recreation Centre and the Cassie Campbell Field Hockey Multisport Training Dome.
Residents can track the status of the Embleton project and others through the city’s new interactive Parks and Recreation Construction Map at brampton.ca/parksplanning.
While construction moves forward, the city noted that residents in Ward 6 can continue to access services at nearby facilities, including the Cassie Campbell Community Centre and the Susan Fennell Sportsplex.
Regional Coun. Rowena Santos, chair of the community services section, emphasized the social impact of the investment.
“Recreation brings families together and supports healthier, more connected neighbourhoods,” Santos said. “These milestones reflect continued progress toward a facility that will give families a welcoming place to stay active.”
