Atlantic Wind & Solar announced that it received a Notice To Proceed (NTP) on a utility-scale solar power plant in Ontario.
The notice was issued by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA). The company has started construction on the estimated 60-day project, which will cost $1.2 million.
This is a major milestone in the project development as it confirms that the local grid studies have been completed and accepted and that the grid is capable of accepting this power. This is also the point at which many projects in Ontario have failed and were abandoned despite having OPA power purchase agreements in place, the company said in statement.
The project, located in the Greater Toronto Area, is sized at 240 kilowatt (KW). Power will be supplied to the grid over a 20-year period.
