Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx have issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a vendor to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Hurontario LRT project, and procure a fleet of light rail vehicles.

The new LRT line will bring 20 kilometres of new, dedicated rapid transit between Port Credit GO Station in Mississauga and the Gateway Terminal at Steeles Ave. in Brampton. It will serve 22 surface stops connecting one urban growth centre, four mobility hubs, two GO Transit rail lines and a number of interchange stops with Brampton and Mississauga transit.

The RFQ is the first step in the procurement process to select a team to deliver the project. IO and Metrolinx will evaluate submissions to prequalify project teams with the relevant experience and financial capacity to deliver a project of this size and complexity. Qualified teams will be invited to respond to a Request for Proposals in spring 2017.

Interested companies must register with www.merx.com to download the RFQ.
