The  Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario (CDCO) has issued a news release applauding an announcement by Justin Trudeau that, if elected, would see an additional $750 million invested annually towards funding skills training.

If elected, a Liberal Government said that the investment would be delivered in partnership with the provinces, territories, First Nations, Metis, and Inuit.

The CDCO represents more than 24,000 journeypersons and apprentices from across the province. The union recognizes that an ongoing commitment to training is the foundation for a successful future in the trades, the news release said.

“This investment is not only a commitment to skilled trades, but to an entire workforce development strategy that will ensure skilled tradespeople can access the equipment, training and facilities they need to get good jobs within the 21st century economy,” said Tony Iannuzzi, the CDCO’s executive secretary treasurer.
